Day 1: Arrive and relax at Candles Camp. We recommend arriving later/afternoon early evening to avoid the heat of day and enjoy the sunset with us.
Day 2: Join your Bedouin tour guide to learn the story behind these natural and historical wonders. Tour is in English:
- Start your tour at the Nabataean Temple, this ruin features 2000 year old kufic writing and Latin inscriptions showing the 3rd century Roman occupation.
- Stop at Al Shallaleh, a mountain whose fresh water spring creates a little ecosystem for Wadi Rum's plants and animals.
- Continue to the Lawrence Springs. This naturally spring-fed system provides drinking water for many of Wadi Rum’s friendly camels.
- See the dramatic rock face of Burdah Canyon.
- Scale the Red Sand Dune to earn your best views of the desert plains yet. Watch the camel convoys from far above.
- Next, go to the Khazali Canyon Inscriptions. Tucked inside a narrow canyon, these millennia-old carvings show the animals that once made their home in Wadi Rum (and some that are still around today). Your tour guide will explain more about the wildlife of Wadi Rum. On the other side of the canyon look for the Kufic writing that shows the evolution of the Arabic script
- Then, walk in the deep and twisting Burrah Canyon created by two dramatic mountains. Once used for growing crops, it still has a 2000-year-old dam.
- Head on to the Little Rock Bridge (our favorite bridge) where you will climb up for open desert vistas.
- Climb the Um Forth Rock Bridge. Tucked behind a group of mountains, this iconic spot turns an easy climb into a photo to remember. Brace your nerves and walk on the natural overpass 15 meters above the desert floor.
- Continue on to Abu Kashabeh Canyon. Leave the jeep behind and walk through the passage to discover its red glow, echos and desert plants. This is one of the most peaceful spots in Wadi Rum and a great place to catch some shade.
- Meet your driver on the other side to return to Candles Camp.
