Have it both ways and explore Wadi Rum in traditional and modern style. The camels are tethered together for an orderly trip, but if you're feeling adventurous you can take the reigns and put your riding skills to the test.
All transportation, accommodations, and your hour camel are included.
Your Bedouin tour guide will explain how to ride your camel and then story behind these natural and historical wonders in English, he will also prepare you a desert-cooked lunch during your tour:
- Ride by camel the "ship of the desert" to Lawrence Spring, a naturally spring-fed system that serves as a favorite water hole for Wadi Rum’s friendly camels.
- By jeep, head to the Red Sand Dunes to scale the dune and earn your best views of the desert plains yet. Watch the camel convoys from far above.
- See the dramatic face of the Burdah Canyon.
- Next, go to the Khazali Canyon Inscriptions. Tucked inside a narrow canyon, these millennia-old carvings show the animals that once made their home in Wadi Rum (and some that are still around today). Your tour guide will explain more about the wildlife of Wadi Rum. On the other side of the canyon look for the Kufic writing that shows the evolution of the Arabic script.
- Then, walk in the deep and twisting Burrah Canyon created by two dramatic mountains. Once used for growing crops, it still has a 2000-year-old dam.
- Head on to the Little Rock Bridge (our favorite bridge) where you will climb up for open desert vistas.
- Climb the Um Forth Rock Bridge. Tucked behind a group of mountains, this iconic spot turns an easy climb into a photo to remember. Brace your nerves and walk on the natural overpass 15 meters above the desert floor.
- Continue on to Abu Kashabeh Canyon. Leave the jeep behind and walk through the passage to discover its red glow, echos and desert plants. This is one of the most peaceful spots in Wadi Rum and a great lace to catch some shade.
Along the Way:
- Our desert-modified jeeps drive slowly so you can soak in the ever-changing landscape. If you’d like to stop for a photograph or any other reason, this is your tour!
- Enjoy the shade of our friends’ tents and a cup (or two!) or fire-brewed tea.
- We provide sand boards free of charge and will teach you our local sport.
- Our guides are experienced in the art of photography and are happy to help you capture your memories.
- Our guides grew up in Wadi Rum and are here to answer you questions about life in the desert.
