Full Day Jeep Tour / Night at Candles Camp / Hike Mount Jabel Um Addami / Sleep Under the Stars
See Wadi Rum's most famous spots and head off the beaten path for a true desert adventure. All transportation and accommodations included.
Day 1: Jeep tour and stay at Candles Camp
Your Bedouin tour guide will explain the story behind these natural and historical wonders in English:
- Start your day at the Nabataean Temple. Built in the 1st century AD and with Latin inscriptions showing 3rd century Roman occupation, marvel at this ancient ruin.
- Stop at Al Shallaleh, a mountain whose fresh water spring creates a little ecosystem for Wadi Rum's plants and animals.
- Continue to the Lawrence Springs. This naturally spring-fed system provides drinking water for many of Wadi Rum’s friendly camels.
- See the dramatic face of the Burdah Canyon.
- Scale the Red Sand Dune to earn your best views of the desert plains yet. Watch the camel convoys from far above.
- Next, go to the Khazali Canyon Inscriptions. Tucked inside a narrow canyon, these millennia-old carvings show the animals that once made their home in Wadi Rum (and some that are still around today). Your tour guide will explain more about the wildlife of Wadi Rum. On the other side of the canyon look for the Kufic writing that shows the evolution of the Arabic script
- Then, walk in the deep and twisting Burrah Canyon created by two dramatic mountains. Once used for growing crops, it still has a 2000-year-old dam.
- Head on to the Little Rock Bridge (our favorite bridge) where you will climb up for open desert vistas.
- Climb the Um Forth Rock Bridge. Tucked behind a group of mountains, this iconic spot turns an easy climb into a photo to remember. Brace your nerves and walk on the natural overpass 15 meters above the desert floor.
- Continue on to Abu Kashabeh Canyon. Leave the jeep behind and walk through the passage to discover its red glow, echos and desert plants. This is one of the most peaceful spots in Wadi Rum and a great place to catch some shade.
- Meet your driver on the other side to head to Candles Camp.
Along the Way:
- Our desert-modified jeeps drive slowly so you can soak in the ever-changing landscape. If you’d like to stop for a photograph or any other reason, this is your tour!
- Enjoy the shade of our friends’ tents and a cup (or two!) or fire-brewed tea.
- We provide sand boards free of charge and will teach you our local sport.
- Our guides are experienced in the art of photography and are happy to help you capture your memories.
Stay at Candles Camp:
Arrive at Candles Camp to watch the sunset. Enjoy a dinner of local Jordanian food and traditional Zarb (meat and vegetables cooked under the sand) along with breakfast. Water, coffee, and our famous tea are always available in the main tent. Read more about Candles Camp accommodations.
Day 2: Hike Jabel Um Addami and sleep under the stars
After breakfast, we will go for a drive through the beautiful and lonely Wadi Saabit Desert (some 40kms) to Jebel Um Addami. Upon arrival, you will have a guided hike to the top which takes about two and a half hours. Jabal Um Addami is the highest mountain in Jordan (1832m above sea level) and is located right on the border with Saudi Arabia. From the top, you will see Saudi Arabia and on a clear day even the Red Sea. After resting, you'll descend for a desert-cooked lunch.
Explore the White Desert by jeep before setting up for the night. Learn how we cook in the desert or continue exploring while your guide prepares dinner. Sit around the campfire enjoying the quiet and the bright stars of this remote corner of Wadi Rum. Your guide will bring everything needed for a comfortable and safe sleep under the night sky.
After breakfast the following morning, we will drive you back to Rum village.
